USL W League Madison Announces Team Name, “Rally Madison FC”
Team Name and Logo Pay Homage to the Suffragist Movement in Wisconsin
MADISON, WI: “Rally Madison FC,” Madison’s pre-professional women’s soccer brand, is the newest addition to the USL W League. The name and logo were announced at the team’s brand launch tonight, and are inspired by the Women’s Suffrage Movement throughout Wisconsin and the United States in the early 1900s.
Wisconsin was the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment on June 10th, 1919. Like the suffragists, Rally Madison FC acts as a pioneer for women in the state, as the capital city’s first USL W League team.
“The name, ‘Rally’, is a commitment—a call to action,” said Rally Madison FC Director of Retail, Alyssa Bruce, who led the charge on building the new brand. “We are rallying Madison together to support, uplift, and celebrate women’s soccer. We believe in creating an inclusive, loud, and passionate fanbase that shows up for every match. Every ticket sold, every song sung, every cheer from the stands is an investment back into the program, funding the development of our youth pathway and cementing Madison as a hub for women’s soccer excellence. This is our city’s chance to show the nation what true support for the women’s game looks like.”
The team’s logo was created in collaboration with Madison media agency, Shine United. Anchoring the crest is the icon of “Wisconsin,” the statue that crowns the state’s Capitol building. Based on Athena, the goddess of wisdom & warfare, she embodies progress, courage, and determination. The Capitol dome is a central Madison landmark, a jewel of the Capitol Square that draws the city together as it remains visible for miles out. The statue stands as a beacon of progress for this team, this city and the state of Wisconsin. The gem in her crown is plucked from the Madison flag, an emblem representing the capitol and a nod to the city that built the team. The yellow rose beneath the wordmark pays homage to the suffragists as it was a key symbol in their movement, signifying hope, unity, and the eventual triumph of the cause.
The primary colors of the club are gold and purple to further represent the suffrage movement in Wisconsin as it pulls from their commonly used flags, sashes, ribbons and buttons at the height of their movement.
“Our goal is to provide pre-professional athletes a platform to develop not only as players, but as strong female leaders,” said Forward Madison FC and Rally Madison FC COO, Conor Caloia. “‘Rally’ embodies a movement for women’s sports in Wisconsin, to inspire and empower the next generation of soccer stars while setting a new standard for women’s soccer. This mission will be further realized through the Rally Girls Soccer Fund, which aims to bridge the financial and logistical barriers that prevent girls in the Madison-area from accessing and continuing to participate in soccer.”
