Rally Madison FC Ends Season On High Note Despite Loss Tonight
Rally fell 4-1 to Edgewater Castle FC tonight but leaves with hopes high for 2027

Match Action
Rally’s last match of the season was set under a perfect summer backdrop with a packed stadium and the momentum of a five-match unbeaten streak fueling the team. The action picked up early with Megan Murray taking on the Edgewater Castle keeper one-v-one in the 5’ and forcing a tremendous diving save. Rally’s keeper, Lili Berg, was tested immediately after making a big stop of her own. Taylor Gordon had a great look in the 10’ with a shot ricocheting off the crossbar. Going shot for shot, Edgewater took a rip on frame of their own in the 11’ that came wide off the post. Both teams exchanged blows, but the defenses held strong. The deadlock was broken in the 18’ when Jess Fernau drove the ball into the box, taking a shot that was spilled by the keeper and forward, Sonoma Bever, was there to put it away. Elsa Maurer nearly doubled the lead with a header in the 21’ off a beautiful corner, but it was just too strong and arced just over the crossbar. Edgewater leveled in the 24’ with a goal from Kristina Lynch. Murray ripped a shot in the 27’ that just kept lifting over the bar. Rally stayed on the attack as Madi Foley took a gorgeous shot in the 29’ that looked like it was about to ripple the back of the net but just clipped off the edge of the post and out. Murray had another shot in the 30’ as the Rally offense remained relentless. Berg came up with another fantastic save in the 38’, pushing the ball over the bar and out of danger. Maddie Arthur came up with a brilliant last-second clearance in the 43’ to stop Edgewater from taking the lead. However, the away team did find the lead in the 44’ off of another goal from Lynch. Despite a strong showing from Rally, the home side went into the tunnel down a goal at the break.
Berg had the first big action of the second half, making a massive save in the 52’. However, Lynch completed the hat trick in the same minute. Eve Gricius tried to find the immediate response in the 53’, but Edgewater’s keeper was able to make the save. Play continued on evenly, with both squads entering their opponent’s final third. Gricius put a header on frame from a corner in the 66’, but the Edgewater keeper, again, was up to the task. Gordon had a chance in the 69’ that the keeper sent out wide for a corner. The 85’ saw Edgewater Castle find their fourth of the night, again from Lynch. Berg came up with another diving save in the 85’ to try to keep Rally in the game. Despite several late chances for Rally, the squad was unable to battle back. The final whistle blew with Rally down 4-1. The loss was not emblematic of the end of the Rally season as a whole, with the girls finding their form and scoring 17 goals in their last six matches, having been unbeaten in the previous five before tonight. The end to their season lends hope to a strong second season for the club in 2027.
